The conformation of our seabed is particularly suitable for the formation of waves, thanks to the exposure of some bays towards the ideal sectors of the sea from which the greatest disturbances come.
Compared to the summer season where high pressure and good weather dominate, winter and autumn are certainly the periods of the year with the most frequent waves, thanks to the large disturbances that bring ideal currents for the formation of wave motion. The bitter enemy is the cold, but it is always overcome by the strength of passion, grit and the irrepressible desire to experience that indescribable sensation of sliding on water.
Although summer is not characterized by the same disturbances as winter, there are several excellent days for surfing, moreover in a swimsuit
But what quality of surfing are we talking about?
Pertubations coming from N/NE/ENE tend to generate waves not above 2 meters, on average 1.5 meters, which go out in a few hours due to the little fetch (stretch of sea for the generation of wave motion). When the swell comes from S/SE/ESE, on the other hand, we have an increase in wave motion that occurs in hundreds of km… giving the waves a chance to grow, distance themselves and gain power! As for Windsurfing, the sirocco represents a blessing for us; with certain assumptions, with the right direction and the right push…. walls of water can reach over 3 meters!
